RaVeN Summer School 2024

The RaVeN Summer School 2024 was conducted from 01/07 to 12/07.

The activities started with a workshop led by PhD Tomasz Leśniak (non-academic) from Philip Morris, on Managerial Finance and Financials Accounting Basics in raw materials industry. The programme included a comprehensive series of lectures designed to provide both theoretical and practical knowledge.

On the following day, PhD Sylwia Lorenc delivered project classes to the students on Financial analysis of companies in the raw materials sector.

Based on the knowledge gained on the previous day, students worked in designated groups. They analysed a company, from the raw materials sector, of their choice from a financial perspective. At the end of the day, students presented their projects about the future of the analysed companies.

The Summer School also offered the opportunity for students to learn about the cable production process in a field trip to Telefonika Kable in Myślenice. In this opportunity, they were introduced to the raw materials that are involved in the production process. Additionally, students became familiar with the use of cables in modern technologies.

A field trip to Wessper Company in Rzezawa allowed students to learn about the production process of water filters. The field trip included entry into three production departments: injection moulding, production, picking. During the field excursion, a mini-lecture was also held about the entire production process and the company’s organisational and business model. At the end of the tour, the students also visited the general administrative section. On the way back, the group stopped in Kraków to see the company’s subsidiary, which deals with commercial activities (sale of finished products).

The Summer School activities continued with a workshop on soft skills development. The main topics included team life cycle model in relation to their experiences, team roles based on personality types in relation to his/her experiences, and to select ways and techniques to manage a team depending on the phase of the team life cycle and the personality of the integrants.

On the  following day, Prof. Dr hab. C.Eng. Janusz Szpytko delivered a lecture covering the following topics: “Resilience Catalysts in Engineering”, “Critical raw materials in the circular economy”, and the “Energy and digital transition”.

The 9th day was dedicated to a field trip to PREVAC Company- Vacuum technology for science and industry.

Finally, the RaVeN Summer School 2024 was concluded with a (non-academic) lecture provided by Artur Halbina, from TAURON Green Energy. The course discussed the sources of CO2 emissions in the world, as well as insights about global CO2 emissions.
